Higher than normal RPM in idle. When I put the car in Drive, it either goes completely dead, or will not GO at all - even with the gas pedal floored!....to which, it eventually does still go dead, Replaced the battery thinking it was going dead because of that. But even the new battery is still going dead. So now I'm thinking maybe the alternator??? I'm no mechanic, but wouldn't a problem with the alternator show up when we pull the codes? When we hooked it up, the codes I got were P0726 and also P1800. Are these two codes related? And how do I fix my car?! I literally JUST purchased it from a used car lot 2 days ago. But my 'as-is/no warranty' car salesman is refusing to do any repairs on it at no cost to me.

Codes are somewhat related, and both could cause the engine to stall (die). If you clear the codes, what code comes back first?
Unfortunately there are some test that needs to be done to diagnose the problem, but my best guess is that there is a problem with the VIAS control solenoid valve. Also, make sure you check the hoses to and from the valve.
