I have a 2004 Kia optima and the po705 code popped up and my check engine light has been going on and off for a few months.I haven't really felt any problems with the car except that it doesn't accelerate very fast. We checked the transmission fluid and it seemed fine and I don't want to waste time or money putting a new sensor in if I don't need to. Could it be possible it's just a glitch or something? Could be something else that is causing the acceleration problem. Problems with the Faulty Park/Neutral Position Switch should not cause driveability problems. When was the last time you service your Optima? (Oil change, air filter, fluids, etc) You could start with that.

If you have a 4 cylinder engine, you more than likely have to replace the Neutral Safety Backup Switch, but if you have a 6 cylinder engine, then the problem is the Transmission Range Sensor. -
