Code P062F 2020 Honda CR-V Description

The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) is equipped with an Electrically Erasable Programmable Read-Only Memory (EEPROM). The data (control learn data, etc.) for powertrain control and information (Vehicle Identification Number (VIN), etc.) related to the vehicle control is stored in the EEPROM, so that it can be maintained even when power is not supplied to the PCM, such as when the 12-volt battery is disconnected. When powered up, the CPU retrieves the stored information from the EEPROM, as well as writes data to the EEPROM (control-related data is written when the vehicle is turned to the ON mode, and vehicle information when commanded from the HDS). When the data retrieval or data writing process is not finished normally, the PCM detects a malfunction and stores a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC).

Frequently Asked Questions about P062F 2020 Honda CR-V Code

What does OBDII code P062F mean on a 2020 Honda CR-V?

Code P062F indicates an issue with the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) related to its internal Keep Alive Memory (KAM), which stores critical data for engine performance and drivability.

What are the common symptoms of code P062F in a 2020 Honda CR-V?

Symptoms may include the check engine light turning on, poor engine performance, difficulty starting the vehicle, reduced fuel efficiency, or erratic transmission behavior.

What causes the P062F code to appear on a 2020 Honda CR-V?

The code is often caused by a failing PCM, corrupted KAM data, low or unstable battery voltage, or damaged PCM wiring and connectors.

Can low battery voltage trigger the P062F code on a 2020 Honda CR-V?

Yes, low or unstable battery voltage can interfere with the PCM’s ability to maintain KAM data, potentially triggering the P062F code.

How can I fix the P062F code on my 2020 Honda CR-V?

Repairs may include reprogramming or replacing the PCM, ensuring battery voltage is stable, inspecting and repairing damaged wiring or connectors, or performing a software update if available.

Is it safe to drive a 2020 Honda CR-V with the P062F code?

While the vehicle may still be drivable, the underlying issue can cause drivability problems or worsen over time, so it’s best to address the code promptly.

How is the P062F code diagnosed on a 2020 Honda CR-V?

A technician will use a scan tool to confirm the code, check for related codes, inspect the PCM and wiring, test battery voltage, and potentially perform a PCM software update or reset.

Can a PCM software update fix the P062F code on a 2020 Honda CR-V?

In some cases, a software update can resolve issues with corrupted Keep Alive Memory data, but if the PCM hardware is faulty, replacement may be necessary.

What is the cost to repair the P062F code on a 2020 Honda CR-V?

Repair costs vary but can range from $100-$300 for diagnostics and minor fixes, while PCM replacement, if needed, could cost $500-$1,200 or more.

Can I reset the P062F code on my 2020 Honda CR-V without repairs?

Clearing the code without addressing the root cause may temporarily turn off the check engine light, but the issue is likely to return until properly repaired.
