The shutter grille system opens/closes the shutter depending on the driving conditions. The system improves fuel efficiency by reducing the wind drag. The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) sends open/close requests which depends on the driving conditions to the shutter grille via the Local Interconnect Network (LIN) line. If the shutter grille actuator detects a restriction and if the restriction condition continues even if the initial learning is retried for a specified time, the PCM confirms the abnormality and stores a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC). The DTC will be set when the shutter grille actuator detects a restriction and if the restriction condition continues for at least 2.5 seconds after the initial learning is retried for three times.
