What make and model is your Chevrolet? every model has the sensor in a different location.

mine is envoy denali 2005

Is on on top of the engine block, all the way on the back. You have to remove the intake manifold to access the sensor.

It's just above the oil filter, but you have to remove the heat shield cover to access the sensor. Make sure you check the engine oil level and condition. Change engine oil and filter if necessary.

I have the same code on my 2008 Chevy Suburban. Do you have any diagram of where this sensor is located.

You could start by checking the engine oil level and condition. If you haven't change the oil lately you should. If the problem persist you may have to replaced the Oil Pressure Sensor.

Thank you very much. I changed the oil about 1200 miles ago. Just checked it and it appears to be at the proper level.

2010 Chevy z71, replaced oil pressure sensor at dealer after the engine said to shut motor off due to low oil. Checked oil a few days before this issue and it was good. Dealer replaced oil pressure switch/sensor. Now I am getting a PO521 engine code. Oil is still good. Ideas?

You may have to replace or clean the Valve Lifter Oil Filter as well. There is a bulletin for this code. See "Tech Notes" above.

2010 CHEV 1500 5.3L i have chnaged the sending unit and the screen underneth the sensor as well, but i still have the code P0521, have cleared the code a few times and keeps returning any ideas???

Usually the sensor takes care of the problem. Any other symptoms? Have you tried a different oil weight?

I have a 2007 Z71 4 x 4 LT. 5.3L and I have the Engine oil pressure sensor code. I can get a new sensor and I know it located in the back of the engine. Very tough to get at. There is a plastic guard that is blocking access. Can I take the guard out? OBTW the vacuum line to the brake booster is blocking taking the plastic guard off. The dealer wants over 800.00 to do this job.

So I changed the oil pressure sensor as well as the screen and the intake gaskets on my 2008 Tahoe 5.3L 4x4 with the 4cyl shut down because the engine light came on with the code P0521. After all of that the engine light came back on with the same code. Any ideas on what could be wrong with it? My oil pressure gauge is also all over the place and the range in pressure is huge, sometimes it drops quite low.

Any other symptoms? engine noise? what oil weight are you using? It possible that may actually have a problem with the oil pressure, if possible you should test the oil pressure.

No other symptoms, no engine noise, still runs well. And I will test oil pressure just seems odd because the vehicle still runs well

Just changed the oil in 2010 Chevrolet avalanche now the oil pressure switch came on. Is there a way to reset that or just replace it

As far as I know there is no reset. What oil weight did you use?
Sometimes the small screen under the oil pressure can get clogged and could trigger the code. You could try using a lower oil weight or remove and clean the screen. If the problem persist you may have to replace the sensor.

Thanks! I got the tools and the part to replace but I am having an issue getting the Electronic plug off the sensor. I managed to get the clip off the plug but it will not let me pull off the plug. Its too hard to see due to the location. Do you have an diagrams or tips to getting the plug off? It's almost like there are little pins that need to be pushed in to disconnect. I've try what seems like everything but still gotta be missing something. Found youtube videos but they are older models that have different connectors. Any help would be appreciated

Had this happen on Saturday,bought a code checker ,, had the oil changed today , while checking the code it would turn the light off but wouldn't erase the permanent code, dash said it wasn't going in to 4cyl, mode ,, after oil change code reader said no codes at all an went in to 4cyl mode according to the dash , oil was at 50% before I changed it at 3500 miles .. hope this fixes it for now

I have never seen low oil pressure cause that problem, unless the engine has been running without oil for long time and is about to seize.
