i have that same issue now with the 2008 2.7L engine we just bought about a month ago.. check engine light just suddenly came on, and we have issues starting it up after putting fuel in the tank. As mentioned above vehicle runs fine until next fuel up.

you need to check the purge solenoid and the gas tank vent solenoid. if you're not having trouble pumping fuel in the tank most likely it's a bad purge solenoid that's under the hood that draws fuel vapor from the charcoal canister at the rear of the car. mine cost 27 dollars for the part..

2002 Elantra 2.0 DOHV. I have replaced gas cap, purge valve, purge solenoid, and vapor canister and my light is still coming on. After replacing the purge solenoid by the vapor canister, my fuel economy dropped and now I get a gas smell the first 5-10 muinutes after startup.

Unfortunately, other than the EVAP Purge Solenoid Valve and EVAP Canister Vent Solenoid, I have not seen any other components triggering the P0441 code. I checked a national database of repair for your model year and there is those two components are the most common ones. Did you used factory parts?

I ordered both using the Dorman part numbers (so I was expecting Dorman parts) however both were in Hyundai boxes, and Hyundai labels with the factory part numbers. I checked dormant website and double checked the number and they matched. My main concern is the gas smell for 5-10 minutes after startup, as since this started, my fuel economy has dropped segnificantly.

Since the smell started after replacing the components, I recommend double check the installation. Either one of the components was not properly installed or you may have a crack hose leaking fuel.

Ugh... I too have a 2002 Elnatra GLS. Replaced purge valve, purge solenoid, and vapor canister as well as a few lines and still get P0441. New gas cap delivered tomorrow which hopefully will do it and get me through inspection.
