Code P0345 2004 Infiniti G35 Description

The Camshaft Position Sensor is an electronic device used in an engine to record the rate at which the camshaft is spinning. This information is used by the Engine Control Module(ECM) to control ignition and fuel injection. The camshaft position sensor senses the retraction of camshaft (intake) to identify a particular cylinder. The camshaft position sensor senses the piston position. The sensor system consists of a rotating part, typically a disc, as well as a static part, the actual sensor.
When the engine is running, the high and low parts of the teeth cause the gap with the sensor to change. The changing gap causes the magnetic field near the sensor to change. The change in the magnetic field cause the voltage from the sensor to change.
When the crankshaft position sensor (POS) system becomes inoperative, the camshaft position sensor provides various controls of engine parts instead, utilizing timing of cylinder identification signals.

Discuss the causes and fixes for P0345 2004 Infiniti G35 OBDII Code

  • I had a long crank and I changed my this camshaft sensor A bank 2, duralast lifetime warranty part from Autozone and my crank was fixed and went back to normal, however my light is still on with the P0345 code, machanics are telling me both A and B camshaft sensors must be changed and also the crankshaft because they work hand in hand. • Not true, you don't have to replace the other camshaft or crankshaft positions sensor, there is a different code when the sensor are reading different.

There are to reasons why the code is still ON, either the sensor is bad (not enough to make the engine run rough, but enough to trigger the light) or the wire from the sensor to the ECM is bad (That includes the pins inside the connector).

I recommend starting by checking sensor connector, make sure is fully connected. If the problem persist and if it's possible, either get a another sensor from AutoZone or get a factory one from the dealer.

  • Thank you very much...I went back to Autozone and they recommended me to do a Ecu reset by disconnecting the positive battery connector for 10-15 seconds and reconnecting it, then start the car and drive around for a mile or 2 to see if the engine light come back on. I did that and drove to work which is around 7 miles and so far it's still off. If it comes back on I will try your troubleshoot. Thanks a million
