Code P02E3 2014 Chevrolet Silverado Description

The intake airflow valve of diesel engines reduces the intake air flow rate in part-load operation so that a higher exhaust gas recirculation rate can be achieved.
The Intake airflow valve assembly contains a contactless inductive throttle position sensing element that is managed by a customized integrated circuit. The valve position sensor is mounted within the valve body assembly and is not serviceable. The Engine Control Module (ECM) supplies the valve body with a 5 V reference circuit, a low reference circuit, an H-bridge motor directional control circuit, and an asynchronous signal/serial data circuit. The asynchronous signal means communication is only going from the intake airflow valve to the ECM. The Intake Air Flow Valve cannot receive data from the ECM over the signal/serial data circuit. The valve position sensor provides a signal voltage that changes relative to the valve blade angle. The valve position sensor information is transmitted between the Intake Air Flow Valve and the ECM on the signal/serial data circuit.
The valve may also be used to shut down the engine by closing the intake airflow valve and disabling the fuel injectors if the control module detects the engine speed is beyond the desired control limits. The Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) will be set if the ECM detects that the intake airflow valve control circuit voltage is greater than a calibrated.

Frequently Asked Questions about P02E3 2014 Chevrolet Silverado Code

1. What does the OBDII code P02E3 mean on a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado?

P02E3 indicates that the intake air flow valve control circuit is experiencing high voltage, which can affect the engine’s air intake system and overall performance.

2. What are the common symptoms of code P02E3 in a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado?

Symptoms may include reduced engine performance, rough idling, decreased fuel efficiency, or the Check Engine Light being illuminated.

3. What causes the P02E3 code to appear on a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado?

Common causes include a faulty intake air flow valve, damaged wiring or connectors in the circuit, or a malfunctioning engine control module (ECM).

4. Can I drive my 2014 Chevrolet Silverado with a P02E3 code?

While it may be possible to drive, it is not recommended as the issue can affect engine performance and fuel efficiency, potentially leading to more serious damage.

5. How do I diagnose the P02E3 code in a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado?

Start by inspecting the intake air flow valve wiring and connectors for damage. Use a multimeter to check for high voltage in the circuit and verify the valve's functionality.

6. How do I fix the P02E3 code on a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado?

Repairs may include replacing the intake air flow valve, repairing damaged wiring or connectors, or reprogramming or replacing the ECM if necessary.

7. How much does it cost to fix the P02E3 code on a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado?

Repair costs vary, but replacing an intake air flow valve typically ranges from $150 to $400, including parts and labor. Wiring repairs may cost less, while ECM replacement is more expensive.

8. Can a dirty air filter cause the P02E3 code in a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado?

A dirty air filter is unlikely to directly cause this code, but it can restrict airflow and contribute to related issues. Always ensure your air filter is clean.

9. Will clearing the P02E3 code with a scanner fix the issue?

Clearing the code may temporarily turn off the Check Engine Light, but it will not fix the underlying problem causing the high voltage in the circuit.

10. Is the P02E3 code related to other intake system problems in a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado?

Yes, it may be associated with other intake system issues, such as a malfunctioning throttle body or mass air flow sensor. Thorough diagnostics are essential.
