P023B RAM Code - Charge Air Cooler Coolant Pump Control Circuit Low
Quick Answer
The Charge Air Cooler (CAC) system is used to reduce the temperature of the air entering the combustion chambers to improve engine performance. Common causes include Faulty Charge Air Cooler Coolant Pump, Charge Air Cooler Coolant Pump harness is open or shorted, Charge Air Cooler Coolant Pump circuit poor electrical connection. Severity is High - diagnose this code as soon as possible. Driving is not recommended if the warning light is flashing, the engine runs poorly, or safety-related symptoms are present.

Code P023B RAM Description
The CAC Pump is a smart device that contains a LIN Bus communication module and a coolant pump. To maintain a desired charge air temperature, the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) sends a pump speed command over the LIN bus to the internal CAC pump module. The internal CAC Pump module controls the pump speed/coolant flow rate using Pulse-width modulation (PWM). The CAC Pump assembly monitors for internal system circuits and performance failures. If a fault occurs the CAC Pump module sends the fault information to the PCM through the dedicated LIN Bus. The PCM processes the information received and then sets the correlating fault.
The Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) will be set if the PCM receives a LIN bus message from the Charge Air Cooler Coolant Pump that the pump control circuit voltage is less than 8.5-Volts.
