Code P01CE GMC Description

The Engine Control Module (ECM) has the ability to learn injector timing performance. When the engine is at operating temperature, throttle closed and in deceleration fuel cut-off mode, the ECM will pulse each injector individually and measure the changes in rotational speed of the crankshaft using the input from the crankshaft position sensor. The ECM will run this diagnostic at one fuel rail pressure operating point for each injector. The ECM stores the injector timing value. The Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) will be set when the Fuel Injection Timing is out of range.

Frequently Asked Questions about P01CE GMC Code

1. What does the OBDII code P01CE mean for a GMC vehicle?

P01CE indicates that the injection timing for cylinder 2 is advanced beyond the specified range set by the engine control module (ECM).

2. What are the common symptoms of a P01CE code in a GMC?

Symptoms may include poor engine performance, rough idling, reduced fuel efficiency, increased emissions, and possibly an illuminated check engine light.

3. What causes the P01CE code on a GMC?

Common causes include faulty fuel injectors, issues with the fuel injection timing control system, wiring problems, ECM malfunctions, or mechanical problems with the engine.

4. Can I drive my GMC with a P01CE code?

Driving with a P01CE code is not recommended, as it can lead to further engine damage, poor fuel economy, and increased emissions if left unresolved.

5. How is the P01CE code diagnosed in a GMC?

A mechanic will use a scan tool to confirm the code, inspect the fuel injectors, check the wiring and connectors, and test the ECM and timing control system for faults.

6. How do you fix a P01CE code on a GMC?

Repairs may include replacing faulty fuel injectors, fixing damaged wiring or connectors, updating or reprogramming the ECM, or addressing mechanical engine issues.

7. Could a dirty fuel injector cause the P01CE code?

Yes, a dirty or clogged fuel injector can disrupt the injection timing and trigger the P01CE code.

8. Is the P01CE code related to other engine issues?

Yes, it may be linked to other issues such as misfires, detonation, or timing chain problems, especially if ignored for an extended period.

9. How much does it cost to repair a P01CE code on a GMC?

The repair cost can vary depending on the root cause, but it typically ranges from $150 to $600, including parts and labor.
