Discuss the causes and fixes for P0161 Jeep OBDII Code
-
jeep temperature gauge redlined and the jeep died, changed all the plugs now getting codes P301, 141, 161
-
Unfortunately there are many that can get damage when the engine overheats. I would recommend starting by performing a compression test to check if the engine has a blown head gasket.
A blown head gasket could be the cause fro the P0301 code. Both codes, the P0141 and P0161, are for the rear O2 senors, but the P0301 code is more important now.
Are there any engine performance problems? engine running rough? lack of power?
-
I just bought a 2002 Grand Cherokee and the check engine light came on. I checked the codes and the only one coming back is p0161. It's running fine. Nothing else seems to be wrong. I guess check the wiring at the o2 sensor first? Should I just replace it?
-
Check the wire first, make sure connector is properly connected and that there is no water inside the connector. If all check OK, and the problem persists, then you have to replace the sensor.
-
Got bad gas and now the code po161 is registering on my dash... My vehicle dies when i have to stop... Does anyone know where the bank 2 o2 sensor is for a 2002 jeep liberty
-
What is the engine size of your Jeep? I doubt the Oxygen sensor will cause the engine to die, more than likely still have bad gas.
