Code P010E 2016 Ford F150 Description

The Mass Airflow (MAF) Sensor uses a hot wire sensing element to measure the amount of air entering the engine. The air passing over the hot wire causes it to cool. This hot wire is maintained at 200°C (392°F) above the ambient temperature as measured by a constant cold wire. The current required to maintain the temperature of the hot wire is proportional to the mass airflow. The MAF Sensor then outputs a signal to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) proportional to the intake air mass. The PCM calculates the required fuel injector pulse width in order to provide the desired air to fuel ratio. The MAF sensor is located near the air cleaner assembly. Most MAF sensors have an integrated Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor. This Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) will be set when a concern exists in the Mass Airflow Bank 2, Sensor 1 (MAF21) circuit, or the air tube containing the MAF21, causing an incorrect sensor output reading.

Frequently Asked Questions about P010E 2016 Ford F150 Code

1. What are the common symptoms of OBDII code P010E in a 2016 Ford F150?

The common symptoms of code P010E include rough idling, stalling, decreased fuel efficiency, and potentially a hesitation or lack of power during acceleration.

2. What can cause the Mass Air Flow Sensor 'B' Circuit Intermittent/Erratic code in a 2016 Ford F150?

Possible causes of code P010E include a faulty mass air flow sensor, a dirty or contaminated air filter, a vacuum leak, or issues with the wiring or connectors related to the sensor.

3. How can I diagnose the Mass Air Flow Sensor circuit issue in my 2016 Ford F150?

To diagnose the issue, you can start by visually inspecting the wiring and connectors for any damage or corrosion. You can also use a multimeter to test the sensor's voltage and resistance, or perform a smoke test to check for vacuum leaks.

4. Can a dirty air filter trigger the P010E code in a 2016 Ford F150?

Yes, a dirty or clogged air filter can disrupt the airflow readings and cause the mass air flow sensor to report erratic or intermittent values, leading to the triggering of code P010E.

5. What are some repair tips for fixing the Mass Air Flow Sensor 'B' Circuit Intermittent/Erratic code in a 2016 Ford F150?

Repair tips may include cleaning or replacing the air filter, inspecting and repairing any damaged wiring or connectors, testing and potentially replacing the mass air flow sensor, and addressing any vacuum leaks in the system.

6. Is it safe to continue driving my 2016 Ford F150 with the P010E code present?

It is generally not recommended to continue driving with the P010E code as it can lead to poor engine performance, decreased fuel efficiency, and potential damage to other components over time. It's best to address the issue promptly.
