AutoCodesLincoln – P010D Lincoln

P010D Lincoln Code - Mass Or Volume Air Flow Sensor 'B' Circuit High

Quick Answer

The Mass Airflow (MAF) Sensor uses a hot wire sensing element to measure the amount of air entering the engine. Common causes include Dirty Air Filter, Faulty Mass Airflow Bank 2 Sensor 1 (MAF21), Mass Airflow Bank 2 Sensor 1 harness is open or shorted. Severity is High - diagnose this code as soon as possible. Driving is not recommended if the warning light is flashing, the engine runs poorly, or safety-related symptoms are present.

Code P010D Lincoln Description

The Mass Airflow (MAF) Sensor uses a hot wire sensing element to measure the amount of air entering the engine. The air passing over the hot wire causes it to cool. This hot wire is maintained at 200°C (392°F) above the ambient temperature as measured by a constant cold wire. The current required to maintain the temperature of the hot wire is proportional to the mass airflow. The MAF Sensor then outputs a signal to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) proportional to the intake air mass. The PCM calculates the required fuel injector pulse width in order to provide the desired air to fuel ratio. The MAF sensor is located near the air cleaner assembly. Most MAF sensors have an integrated Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor. This Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) will be set when the Mass Airflow Bank 2, Sensor 1/Intake Air Temperature Bank 2, Sensor 1 (MAF21/IAT21) output changes above a maximum calibrated limit while the engine is running.

Frequently Asked Questions about P010D Lincoln Code

What does the OBDII code P010D mean on a Lincoln?

P010D indicates that the Mass or Volume Air Flow (MAF) Sensor 'B' circuit is reporting a voltage that is higher than the expected range.

What are the common symptoms of a P010D code on a Lincoln?

Symptoms may include a check engine light, poor acceleration, rough idling, stalling, reduced fuel efficiency, or difficulty starting the engine.

What causes the P010D code to appear in a Lincoln?

Common causes include a faulty MAF sensor, damaged wiring or connectors, a dirty air filter, intake air leaks, or issues with the Engine Control Module (ECM).

Can a dirty air filter cause the P010D code?

Yes, a clogged or dirty air filter can restrict airflow, potentially causing the MAF sensor to send incorrect signals to the ECM.

How do I diagnose the P010D code in my Lincoln?

Start by inspecting the MAF sensor and its wiring for damage, checking for air intake leaks, cleaning the sensor if dirty, and testing the sensor’s voltage output with a multimeter.

Can I drive my Lincoln with the P010D code?

Driving with a P010D code is not recommended, as it can lead to poor engine performance, reduced fuel efficiency, and potential damage to other components.

How do I fix the P010D code on my Lincoln?

Repairs may include cleaning or replacing the MAF sensor, repairing damaged wiring, replacing a clogged air filter, or addressing intake leaks.

Will clearing the P010D code solve the issue?

Clearing the code will turn off the check engine light temporarily, but the issue will return if the underlying problem is not resolved.

Is a faulty ECM a common cause of the P010D code?

A faulty ECM is a less common cause, but it can happen if all other components and circuits related to the MAF sensor are functioning correctly.

How much does it typically cost to repair a P010D code on a Lincoln?

Repair costs can range from $100 to $400, depending on whether you need a new MAF sensor, wiring repairs, or other related fixes.
