My name is ngonidzashe and am from zimbabwe harare.
my mazda axela got an engine check light on monday and then yesterday, i took it to a diagnosis centre and i got a P0100 Mass air flow sensor error code. the diagnosis technician explained that the vehicle's mass air flow sensor had developed a fault and needed replacing. we opened the bonnet and as he indicated to me the mass air flow sensor we both noticed that the circuit to which the sensor was attached had broken up and exposing the red rubber inside it..the vehicle once had a head on collision two years ago...however he could not say if the broken socket was the one that made the light on or whether the sensor itself was the one malfunctioning or whether other issues...
so after visiting your site for that error code, i arrived home and tried removing the sensor to blow away dust from it,i noticed that that small bulb on it was a brownish black colour , the colour we see on a burnt bulb...(i do not know if that is its normal colour or its surely burnt up)..i then removed that small side air tank to check if it had a leak by blowing air in it harder.(this is not leaking so i connected it back)...then i opened the air filter and removed it and it looked half clean so i blew it to remove dust,...then i fixed everything back...
this morning, i switched on the engine and the engine check light light was still on..so i decided to remove the negative battery terminal as advised from another platform and then the light switched off..i drove to work and arrived without it having been on...i jus want to check if i have solved the problem or i need to replace the sensor and the broken circuit...
please help me because i do not want to buy another sensor whilst the one still on the car is still functioning...please advise me...i do not want to use a faulty car as well, pretending tht it is right.

If the light does'n come back ON the you fixed the problem. If the light code comes back and you have the same code, then you need to replace the sensor.
