Code P00FE 2015 Ford F150 Description

The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) monitors the Evaporative Emission (EVAP) system for a restricted fuel vapor tube between the Fuel Tank Pressure (FTP) Sensor and the fuel tank. During the initial phase of the EVAP monitor, the PCM closes the canister vent, and a vacuum develops in the fuel vapor tubes and lines and in the fuel tank. The PCM monitors the FTP sensor to determine the amount of vacuum and how quickly the vacuum increases. The rate at which the vacuum increases is compared to an expected value. If the vacuum increases quicker than expected, a restricted fuel vapor tube is suspected, and an intrusive test is carried out in the final phase of the EVAP monitor. This Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) sets when the intrusive test confirms a blockage a counter is incremented, and the counter reaches a calibrated number of completions.

Frequently Asked Questions about P00FE 2015 Ford F150 Code

1. What are common symptoms of an EVAP system tank vapor line restricted/blocked issue (OBDII code P00FE) in a 2015 Ford F150?

- Common symptoms include the check engine light coming on, decreased fuel efficiency, rough idling, and potential fuel odors.

2. What causes the OBDII code P00FE to indicate an EVAP system tank vapor line restricted/blocked problem in a 2015 Ford F150?

- The code is typically triggered by a blockage or restriction in the tank vapor line, which can be caused by debris, a malfunctioning purge valve, or a damaged line.

3. How serious is an EVAP system tank vapor line restriction/blockage issue on a 2015 Ford F150?

- While the vehicle may still be driveable, ignoring this issue can lead to potential fuel leaks, increased emissions, and even engine performance problems over time.

4. Can a DIY enthusiast repair an EVAP system tank vapor line blockage causing code P00FE on a 2015 Ford F150?

- It is possible for DIYers to address this issue by inspecting the vapor line for blockages, cleaning or replacing the line if necessary, or checking and replacing the purge valve.

5. What are some tips for diagnosing an EVAP system tank vapor line restriction/blockage issue in a 2015 Ford F150?

- Use an OBDII scanner to retrieve the specific trouble code, inspect the tank vapor line for physical blockages or damage, and check the purge valve functionality.

6. Is it safe to continue driving a 2015 Ford F150 with the OBDII code P00FE indicating an EVAP system tank vapor line restriction/blockage?

- It is generally not recommended to drive the vehicle for an extended period with this issue, as it can lead to potential safety hazards and further damage to the EVAP system components.

7. How much does it typically cost to repair an EVAP system tank vapor line restriction/blockage issue causing code P00FE on a 2015 Ford F150?

- The cost of repair can vary depending on the exact cause of the blockage and whether professional labor is needed, but it may range from $100 to $300 or more.
