Code P00F4 2017 GMC Sierra Description

The Intake Air Humidity Sensor measures the ambient humidity of the air in the sensor bore. The signal varies with intake air humidity and is displayed by the scan tool as duty cycle %. The Engine Control Module (ECM) applies 5 V to the circuit. The signal circuit is shared by the humidity sensor and the Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor 2. Ignition voltage and ground circuits are also supplied to the multifunction intake air sensor's internal circuits for these sensors: IAT sensor 2, Humidity sensor, and MAF sensor. The Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) will be set when the ECM detects that the humidity sensor signal is less than or equal to 5 % for greater than 5 s.

Frequently Asked Questions about P00F4 2017 GMC Sierra Code

1. What does the OBDII code P00F4 mean on a 2017 GMC Sierra?

The P00F4 code indicates a problem with the Intake Air Humidity Sensor Circuit, specifically that it is experiencing low voltage.

2. What are common symptoms of the P00F4 code in a 2017 GMC Sierra?

Symptoms may include poor engine performance, reduced fuel efficiency, irregular idle, or the Check Engine Light being illuminated.

3. What causes the P00F4 code to be triggered?

Common causes include a faulty intake air humidity sensor, damaged wiring or connectors in the sensor circuit, or issues with the vehicle's engine control module (ECM).

4. Can I drive my 2017 GMC Sierra with the P00F4 code?

While the vehicle may still be drivable, continuing to drive with this code can lead to reduced performance and potentially further damage to the engine system.

5. How do I diagnose the P00F4 code on my GMC Sierra?

Start by inspecting the intake air humidity sensor and its wiring for damage or corrosion. Use a multimeter to check for proper voltage and continuity in the circuit.

6. How can I fix the P00F4 code on a 2017 GMC Sierra?

Repairs may involve replacing the intake air humidity sensor, repairing or replacing damaged wiring, or reprogramming/updating the ECM if necessary.

7. Where is the intake air humidity sensor located on a 2017 GMC Sierra?

The intake air humidity sensor is typically integrated into the air intake system, often near the air filter housing or intake manifold.

8. How much does it cost to repair the P00F4 code on a GMC Sierra?

The repair cost can vary but typically ranges from $100 to $300, depending on whether the sensor, wiring, or ECM needs attention.

9. Can a dirty air filter trigger the P00F4 code?

A dirty air filter is unlikely to directly trigger this code but can contribute to airflow issues, which may exacerbate sensor-related problems.

10. Will resetting the Check Engine Light fix the P00F4 code?

Resetting the light may temporarily clear the code, but the underlying issue will need to be addressed to prevent the code from returning.
