Code P3152 Description

The solenoid-controlled injection valve discharges a high-pressure spray into the combustion chamber. The solenoid-controlled injection valve is a retracting-plunger valve characterized by a high level of flexibility in its spray-propagation pattern (angle and shape). The discharge orifices form the high-precision injection pattern. This provides even and consistent propagation. The retracting-plunger solenoid-controlled injection valve continues to maintain stable propagation properties, even at the temperatures and pressure levels encountered within the combustion chamber. Fuel is injected into the combustion chambers under high pressure (between 50 and 200 bar) during the intake and compression strokes. During the warm-up phase yet another, a minute quantity of fuel is injected to assist the catalytic converter to reach its effective operating temperature more quickly (catalytic converter heating). During cold starting, the fuel is sprayed during the compression stroke in multiple pulses. This strategy provides reliable cold-starts along with substantive improvements in the areas of pollutant emissions and fuel consumption.
The Digital Motor Electronics (DME) diagnosis monitors the activation of the high voltage side of the fuel injector. The Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) is detected when there is a short circuit to ground.

- Common symptoms include rough idling, engine misfires, loss of power, and potential fuel leaks near the injector.

2. What are the possible causes of OBDII code P3152?

- Possible causes include a faulty high-pressure fuel injector, damaged injector wiring, poor electrical connection, or issues with the fuel injection control module.

3. How can I diagnose the root cause of OBDII code P3152?

- Diagnosis involves inspecting the wiring and connections related to the high-pressure fuel injector, performing a fuel pressure test, and using a multimeter to check for electrical issues.

4. Can a dirty fuel injector cause OBDII code P3152?

- Yes, a dirty or clogged fuel injector can disrupt the fuel flow and potentially trigger this code due to low pressure on the high side circuit.

5. How can I repair OBDII code P3152 at home?

- You can start by cleaning the fuel injector, checking and repairing any damaged wiring or connections, and resetting the code to see if the issue persists.

6. Is it safe to drive with OBDII code P3152 present?

- It is not recommended to drive with this code active, as it can lead to poor engine performance and potential safety hazards due to fuel leaks or misfires.

7. Can a bad fuel pump cause OBDII code P3152 to appear?

- While a bad fuel pump itself may not directly trigger this code, it can impact fuel pressure and cause related issues that may lead to the code being triggered.

8. How much does it typically cost to repair OBDII code P3152 at a professional auto repair shop?

- The cost can vary depending on the exact cause of the issue, but repairs related to this code can range from $200 to $600 or more, including parts and labor.

9. Will resetting the OBDII code P3152 make it go away permanently?

- Resetting the code may temporarily clear it, but if the underlying issue is not addressed, the code is likely to reappear after driving the vehicle for some time.

10. Is it necessary to replace the high-pressure fuel injector if OBDII code P3152 is triggered?

- In many cases, replacing the faulty high-pressure fuel injector is the most effective solution to resolve OBDII code P3152 and prevent further issues with the fuel system.
