O'Reily Auto Parts did it for free / / / P2450 code says an evap valve is open on the gas tank . . . WTF on a new truck with less than 34,000 miles . . . I have had it less than two years! 18 months and I'm getting this horseshit . . . I've owned over dozen Fords, I am an old man who drives like an old man, ... OK sometimes I hit 80mph on the freeways... But that's no big deal, I never had any issues with my Fords in the past, but this 2018 XLT 4X4 seems to be a lemon.

1. Check the vehicle build date. Is the vehicle built on or before 23-Jul-2018 at Dearborn Truck Plant or 31-Jul-2018 at Kansas City Assembly Plant?
-Yes - proceed to Step 2.
-No - this article does not apply. Refer to the Powertrain Control/Emissions Diagnosis (PC/ED) Manual for diagnostics.2. Using the appropriate Ford diagnostic scan tool, retrieve DTCs. Is DTC P2450 and/or P144C stored in the PCM?

The service writer at Ford said he couldn't get to me until next week and it won't hurt to drive the truck . . . however, he suggested I add some high octane additive to my gas tank and drive fast on the highway for half an hour or so. I nuked my gas tank with high octane gas and the additive and hit the road. I returned home an hour later parked the truck and shut it off. I got in the pickup the next day and the light was off! I went to the local auto parts store for another reading and my friend there said my engine was operating normally. From now on I'm buying high octane and adding the engine boost additive at my HEB gas pumps.
