Code P2067 2018 GMC Sierra Description

Diesel Engine
The primary fuel level sensor and the secondary fuel level sensor change resistance based on fuel level. The Fuel Pump Driver Control Module monitors the signal circuits of the primary fuel level sensor and the secondary fuel level sensor and sends the signal information to the Engine Control Module (ECM) for all further handling. The ECM uses this value in order to determine the fuel level. When the fuel tank is full, the resistances of both fuel level sensors are low, and the ECM senses a low signal voltage on both the signal circuits of the primary fuel level sensor and the secondary fuel level sensor. When the fuel tank is empty, the resistances of the fuel level sensors are high, and the ECM senses a high signal voltage. The ECM uses the signal circuits of the primary fuel level sensor and the secondary fuel level sensor in order to calculate the percentage of remaining fuel in the tank. The ECM sends the fuel level percentage via the serial data circuit to the instrument cluster in order to control the fuel gauge.

The Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) will be set if the ECM detects the signal voltage is less than 0.25 V.

Frequently Asked Questions about P2067 2018 GMC Sierra Code

1. What does the OBDII code P2067 indicate on a 2018 GMC Sierra?

The P2067 code indicates that the Engine Control Module (ECM) has detected a low voltage signal from the Fuel Level Sensor 2 circuit.

2. What symptoms might I notice if my 2018 GMC Sierra has the P2067 code?

Symptoms can include inaccurate fuel gauge readings, the fuel gauge fluctuating erratically, or the fuel gauge showing empty despite having fuel in the tank.

3. What are common causes of the P2067 code in a 2018 GMC Sierra?

Common causes include a faulty fuel level sensor, damaged wiring or connectors in the fuel level sensor circuit, or a problem with the ECM itself.

4. How can I fix the P2067 code on my 2018 GMC Sierra?

To fix the P2067 code, you should inspect and, if necessary, replace the fuel level sensor. Also, check for and repair any damaged wiring or connectors in the sensor circuit.

5. Is it safe to drive my 2018 GMC Sierra with the P2067 code?

While you can still drive your vehicle, you may encounter issues with fuel management due to inaccurate fuel level readings, which could potentially cause the vehicle to run out of fuel unexpectedly.

6. How do I confirm that the fuel level sensor is the issue when diagnosing the P2067 code?

A professional mechanic can perform a diagnostic test using a multimeter to check the voltage output of the fuel level sensor. If the readings are outside the manufacturer's specifications, the sensor needs to be replaced.

7. Can the P2067 code affect the fuel efficiency of my 2018 GMC Sierra?

Indirectly, yes. If the fuel gauge is inaccurate, it could lead you to either overfill or run out of fuel unexpectedly, which in turn can affect driving habits and fuel management.

8. What tools are needed to diagnose the P2067 code on a 2018 GMC Sierra?

Diagnosing the P2067 code typically requires a digital multimeter to measure voltages in the fuel level sensor circuit and an OBDII scanner to read the code and clear it after repairs.

9. How much does it typically cost to repair a P2067 code in a 2018 GMC Sierra?

The cost can vary widely depending on whether the issue is with the sensor itself or the wiring. Replacing a fuel level sensor can cost anywhere from $200 to $400 including parts and labor, while fixing wiring issues might be cheaper unless extensive repairs are needed.

10. After repairing a P2067 code, is there anything specific that should be checked or adjusted on a 2018 GMC Sierra?

After repairs, ensure that the fuel gauge reads accurately by comparing the gauge reading with the actual fuel level after filling the tank. It's also wise to clear the code with an OBDII scanner and check if the code returns upon driving.
