Discuss the causes and fixes for P1491 Chrysler OBDII Code

  • 2000 Dodge Gra Carivan, 3.3L V6 I found that one of my fan motors was burned up. it kept blowing a fuse so i checked all wiring an when i unhooked the left fan it stopped blowing the fuse. its only cooling on the tranny side but will keep it cool enough for local driving. so if you get the P1491 CODE its not your EGR like i seen on the honda site first opened with this code. Also couldnt find a relay for the radiator fans. You may unhook both fans an hook up one at time to find the bad one. it should have some resitance when you try to free turn the fan. Mine did thats why i disconnected it first.
    GOOD LUCK

  • I have a 1998 Chrysler T&C 3.3L P1491 code with flashing lights on the ac controls and back window wiper controls wonder if anyone has seen this before. Cooling fans do not run.

  • For the P1491 code the problem is more than likely the Cooling Fan Motors Relays or the Fan Motors, which should not be related to the back window wiper. I'm not sure about the flashing lights on the A/C controls. I recommend fixing the Cooling Fan Motors Relays or the Fan Motors, and the check the other items.
