Code P1416 Dodge Description

When all criteria has been met, power is supplied to each MDS Solenoid when the engine is making a transition from 8 cylinder mode to 4 cylinder mode. By actuating the solenoid, oil pressure is raised to the pair of lifters that coincide with each particular solenoid. The oil pressure pushes in the locking pins that allows the lifter to collapse, decoupling the valves and camshaft.

Discuss the causes and fixes for P1416 Dodge OBDII Code

  • replaced the MDS solenoid on the number six cylinder, (broke the old one during removal) with the new and improved version. Now getting a P1416 reactivation code as soon as I turn the key to the on position. The coil has 14 ohms resistance before I installed it so I don't think its bad, the ECU is new as well for a Non MDS engine so I'm slightly confused as to what the overall cause to this problem is.

  • Hello Dennis. Let me check if I can find more information. What model and year is your Dodge.

  • We've changed the mds. Wiring looks good. Was throwing codes of 1 and 6. We changed them all. Even got new spark plugs n changed the ignition coil for 1 and 6. What else could this code be for if all mds was changed. Its an 08 dodge charger r/t.
