Code P1392 Description

This fault code is stored in the Engine Control Module (ECM) when the output from the Camshaft Position Sensor is not as expected or missing. The ECM uses information from the Crankshaft Position Sensor to validate the signal from the Camshaft Position Sensor. The phonic wheel for the camshaft position should also be inspected as incorrect fitment or damage can affect the signal. Incorrect valve timing can also cause this fault. If the vehicle is fitted with variable valve timing the operation of this system should also be tested. A good quality oil supply is vital for the correct operation of variable valve timing. The lubrication system should also be inspected when this fault occurs.
