Code P0960 2014 Chevrolet Silverado Description

The line pressure control solenoid is part of the control solenoid valve assembly which has no serviceable parts. The normally high line pressure control solenoid regulates and directs the pressure control solenoid oil pressure to the isolator/pressure regulator valve. Increasing pressure control solenoid line pressure increases transmission line pressure. The Transmission Control Module (TCM) varies the current to the line pressure control solenoid through a low side driver. Decreasing the current to the line pressure control solenoid increases line pressure control solenoid oil pressure by closing OFF the solenoid exhaust port. Increasing the current to the line pressure control solenoid decreases line pressure control oil pressure by opening the solenoid exhaust port. Line pressure control solenoid power is supplied by the Transmission Control Module through a high-side driver. The high-side driver protects the circuit and components from excessive current flow. If the excessive current flow is detected, the high side driver will turn OFF. When the fault is corrected the high-side driver will reset.
The Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) will be set when the Transmission Control Module detects an open circuit on the line pressure control solenoid valve control circuit for 1 s.

1. What does the OBDII code P0960 mean for a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado?

The P0960 code indicates an open circuit in the Line Pressure Control Solenoid Valve Control Circuit, responsible for managing hydraulic pressure in the transmission.

2. What are the common symptoms of the P0960 code in a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado?

Symptoms may include harsh or erratic shifting, transmission slipping, poor acceleration, and the Check Engine Light turning on.

3. What causes the P0960 code to appear in a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado?

Common causes include a faulty line pressure control solenoid, damaged wiring or connectors in the control circuit, or a failure in the transmission control module (TCM).

4. Can I drive my 2014 Chevrolet Silverado with the P0960 code?

Driving with the P0960 code is not recommended, as it can lead to further transmission damage and unsafe driving conditions.

5. How is the P0960 code diagnosed in a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado?

A technician will use a scan tool to verify the code, inspect the wiring and connectors for damage, test the solenoid for proper operation, and check the TCM for faults.

6. How do you fix the P0960 code on a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado?

Repairs may include replacing the line pressure control solenoid, repairing or replacing damaged wiring or connectors, or reprogramming or replacing the TCM.

7. How much does it cost to repair the P0960 code in a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado?

The repair cost can range from $150 to $600, depending on whether the solenoid, wiring, or TCM needs to be repaired or replaced.

8. Can a bad transmission fluid level cause the P0960 code?
