P0732 Jeep Code - Gear Ratio Error In Second Gear

Quick Answer

This diagnosis monitors actual gear position by checking the torque converter slip ratio calculated by Transmission Control Module (TCM) as follows: Torque converter slip ratio = A x C/B A: Output shaft revolution signal from revolution sensor B: Engine speed signal from Engine Control Module (ECM) C: Gear ratio determined as gear position which TCM supposes If the actual gear position is higher than the position (2nd) supposed by TCM, the slip ratio will be more than normal. Common causes include Low transmission fluid level, Dirty transmission fluid, Faulty Shift Solenoids. Severity is High - diagnose this code as soon as possible. Driving is not recommended if the warning light is flashing, the engine runs poorly, or safety-related symptoms are present.

Discuss the causes and fixes for P0732 Jeep OBDII Code

  • My 05' Jeep liberty lost all gears driving down the hwy. Would not pull itself in any gear. Including reverse. I can turn key off then back on and i have all forward gears but still no reverse. It will drive in 1st gear til it reaches 2nd gear and rather than shifts it quits pulling. Like it is in neutral. Turn key off and bak on and everything repeats. Changed fluid and filter. (Filter was clogged). Problem is still there. Gonna check all wiring next. Then the 2nd gear sensor.

  • Before replacing the sensor, I suggest having a transmission shop inspect the transmission. Due the age of your vehicle and symptoms, the problem sounds more like a mechanical problem instead of an electrical problem.

  • Having exact same issue in my 08 jeep wrangler Sahara 3.8l 42rle what was the fix for you?

  • Did that fix your situation. I'm having the same problem
