Code P0711 Hyundai Description

The Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF) temperature sensor is installed in the Valve Body. This sensor uses a thermistor whose resistance changes according to the temperature changes. The Transmission Control Module (TCM) supplies a 5V reference voltage to the sensor, and the output voltage of the sensor changes when the ATF temperature varies. The Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF) temperature provides very important data for the TCM’s control of the Torque Converter Clutch, and is also used for many other purposes.

Discuss the causes and fixes for P0711 Hyundai OBDII Code

  • recommend elm 327 check it and delete it. saves some money if you already have a laptop.

  • I HAVE A 2007 HYUNDAI TUCSON HAD THE TEMPERATURE SENSOR REPLACED TWO MONTHS AGO DUE TO ENGINE LIGHT ON AND P0700 AND P0711 CODE COMING UP. NOW TWO MONTHS LATER ENGINE LIGHT ON AGAIN AND SAME CODES COMING UP

  • I have a 2011 Hyundai Sante Fe Limited and about 1 month ago I had 'hard shifting' of my Automatic transmission. The Check Engine light came on, and I went to Advanced Auto Parts. 4 codes came up - 1 was battery voltage low and the next 3 were P0711, all related to the temperature sensor. Took the negative cable off the battery for 30 minutes to "reset" everything. Light went off + all was well...for a couple of weeks. Then it started again! Trying to find out HOW MUCH IS THIS GOING TO COST ME TO FIX?!?

  • It's difficult to say based on just the code, could be just low or dirty transmission fluid. If the problem is the Transmission Oil Temperature Sensor, the price could be around $300-$400.

  • its covered under the 10 year powertrain. I'm having the same issue on my 2012 Sonata, it is actually in the shop today. $50 for the deductible to save $400+

  • Thank you for the information!!!

  • Future info for customers out of warranty, the dealers invoice for the job was $443.00 plus tax but as I said above it is covered under the 10 yr
100,000 mile powertrain warranty for those who qualify. It is about a 4 hour job.

  • This site was extremely helpful. I have a 2103 Sonata that shows a PO711 code. I researched the code and found that it indicated the transmission sensor was possibly bad or the fluid might need replacing. I checked my warranty and found that it was covered. Otherswise, it was $400+ to fix it. I have an appointment next week to find what the actual diagnosis is. Thanx again.
