Code P0573 Chevrolet Description

The Brake Pedal Position Sensor signal circuit is a B+ input from the Body Control Module (BCM) to the Engine Control Module (ECM). The BCM and ECM monitor the Brake Pedal Position Sensor signal circuit to detect when the brake pedal has been applied. When the brake pedal is applied, the BCM supplies B+ on the stop lamp signal circuit and also sends a serial data message to the ECM indicating that the brake pedal has been applied. This Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) will be set when the ECM detects a short to voltage on the discrete brake signal circuit when the serial data message from the BCM indicates the brakes are not applied. This diagnostic will run when the serial data message and the voltage signal on the brake switch signal circuit do not match for 8 out 10 times, and the condition is present for greater than 2 s.

The problem is the Brake Light Switch. Replacing the switch usually takes care of the problem.

Very unlikely, a bad switch may trigger the code or cause the brake light to stop working, but I haven't seen turning off the engine.

I have the same problem 2011 Silverado cruise control does not work P0573. I change the brake control switch cruise control still does not work. What can I check now?

Unfortunately, other than the Brake Light Switch (Stop Lamp Switch) on the brake pedal, I have not seen any other component setting the P0573 code. Please double check the switch installation.
Do you have adjustable pedals?

I have put two new switches in and neither one made a difference. My truck does have the adjustable pedals.and I have checked around already for frayed wires and I haven't seen any evidence of that.
