P0507 2006 Infiniti G35 Code - Idle Speed Control System RPM Higher Than Expected

Quick Answer

The Engine Control Module (ECM) controls the engine idle speed to a specified level through the fine adjustment of the air, which is let into the intake manifold, by operating the electric throttle control actuator. Common causes include Dirty throttle body, Electric throttle control actuator misadjusted or damaged, Faulty Electric throttle control actuator. Severity is High - diagnose this code as soon as possible. Driving is not recommended if the warning light is flashing, the engine runs poorly, or safety-related symptoms are present.

Code P0507 2006 Infiniti G35 Description

The Engine Control Module (ECM) controls the engine idle speed to a specified level through the fine adjustment of the air, which is let into the intake manifold, by operating the electric throttle control actuator. The operating of the throttle valve is varied to allow for optimum control of the engine idling speed. The ECM calculates the actual engine speed from signals of crankshaft position sensor (POS) and camshaft position sensor.
The ECM controls the electric throttle control actuator so that the engine speed coincides with the target value memorized in the ECM. The target engine speed is the lowest speed at which the engine can operate steadily. The optimum value stored in the ECM is determined by taking into consideration various engine conditions, such as during warming up, deceleration, and engine load (air conditioner, power steering and cooling fan operation, etc.)

Frequently Asked Questions about P0507 2006 Infiniti G35 Code

1. What does the OBDII code P0507 mean for a 2006 Infiniti G35?

P0507 indicates that the engine's idle speed is higher than the manufacturer’s specified range due to an issue with the Idle Speed Control System.

2. What are the common symptoms of P0507 in a 2006 Infiniti G35?

Symptoms may include a higher-than-normal idle speed, rough idling, poor fuel economy, and possible stalling when coming to a stop.

3. What causes the P0507 code in a 2006 Infiniti G35?

Common causes include vacuum leaks, a dirty or faulty throttle body, a malfunctioning idle air control valve, or issues with the PCV valve or intake manifold gasket.

4. Can a vacuum leak trigger the P0507 code on a 2006 Infiniti G35?

Yes, a vacuum leak can allow unmetered air to enter the engine, causing a higher idle speed and triggering the P0507 code.

5. How can I diagnose the P0507 code on my 2006 Infiniti G35?

Start by checking for vacuum leaks, inspecting the throttle body for dirt or carbon buildup, and testing the idle air control valve for proper operation. A scan tool can also confirm the idle speed.

6. Can cleaning the throttle body fix the P0507 code in a 2006 Infiniti G35?

Yes, if the throttle body is dirty or clogged with carbon deposits, cleaning it can often resolve the P0507 code.

7. Is it safe to drive a 2006 Infiniti G35 with the P0507 code?

Driving with the P0507 code is generally not recommended, as it can lead to poor drivability, higher fuel consumption, and potential engine stalling.

8. How much does it cost to repair a P0507 code on a 2006 Infiniti G35?

Repair costs vary depending on the cause. Cleaning the throttle body may cost under $100, while replacing components like the idle air control valve or fixing vacuum leaks can cost $200–$600.

9. Can a faulty mass airflow (MAF) sensor cause the P0507 code on a 2006 Infiniti G35?

Yes, a malfunctioning MAF sensor can cause incorrect air-fuel mixture readings, leading to a higher idle speed and triggering the P0507 code.

10. How do I prevent the P0507 code from recurring on my 2006 Infiniti G35?

Regular maintenance, such as cleaning the throttle body, replacing worn-out gaskets, and inspecting for vacuum leaks, can help prevent the P0507 code from returning.
