Code P0455 2011 Nissan Pathfinder Description

This diagnosis detects leaks in the Evaporative Emission System (EVAP) purge line using engine intake manifold vacuum. If pressure does not increase, the Engine Control Module (ECM) will check for leaks in the line between the fuel tank and EVAP canister purge volume control solenoid valve under the following vacuum test condition.
The vacuum cut valve bypass valve is opened to clear the line between the fuel tank and the EVAP canister purge volume control solenoid valve. The EVAP canister vent control valve will then be closed to shut the EVAP purge line off. The EVAP canister purge volume control solenoid valve is opened to depressurize the EVAP purge line using intake manifold vacuum. After this depressurization is implemented, the EVAP canister purge volume control solenoid valve will be closed.

2. What are the common symptoms of code P0455 in a 2011 Nissan Pathfinder?

Common symptoms include the check engine light turning on, a possible fuel smell near the vehicle, and in rare cases, a slight drop in fuel efficiency. There are usually no noticeable performance issues.

3. What causes the P0455 code on a 2011 Nissan Pathfinder?

Common causes include a loose or damaged gas cap, a cracked or disconnected EVAP hose, a faulty purge valve, or a damaged charcoal canister.

Yes, it’s generally safe to drive with this code, as it usually doesn’t affect drivability. However, it’s important to address it promptly to avoid increased emissions and potential damage to the EVAP system.

7. How can I diagnose the P0455 code on a 2011 Nissan Pathfinder?

You can perform a visual inspection of the gas cap and EVAP system components for leaks or damage. A smoke test may also be used to locate leaks in the system if no visible issues are found.

8. Can a faulty purge valve cause the P0455 code?

Yes, a malfunctioning purge valve can lead to a gross leak detection, as it may fail to seal properly, allowing fuel vapors to escape.

9. How much does it cost to repair a P0455 code on a 2011 Nissan Pathfinder?

The cost depends on the cause. Replacing a gas cap might cost $20-$50, while repairing EVAP hoses or components could range from $100 to $500, depending on labor and parts.
