Code P0341 2015 GMC Sierra Description

The Camshaft Position Sensor detects magnetic flux changes between the four narrow and wide tooth slots on the reluctor wheel. The Camshaft Position Sensor provides a digital ON/OFF DC voltage of varying frequency for each camshaft revolution. The Engine Control Module (ECM) will recognize the narrow and wide tooth patterns to identify the camshaft position, or which cylinder is in compression, and which is in the exhaust. The information is then used to determine the correct time and sequence for fuel injection and ignition spark events.
The ECM also has a dedicated replicated Camshaft Position Sensor signal output circuit that may be used as an input signal to other modules for monitoring engine RPM.
The Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) will be set when the ECM does not receive less than 4 pulses from the Camshaft Position Sensor during 2 engine revolutions.

Frequently Asked Questions about P0341 2015 GMC Sierra Code

What does the OBDII code P0341 mean on a 2015 GMC Sierra?

1. P0341 indicates a problem with the camshaft position sensor performance, meaning the sensor's signal is out of range or inconsistent with the engine's expected timing. 2.

What are common symptoms of the P0341 code in a 2015 GMC Sierra?

Symptoms may include rough idling, difficulty starting, reduced engine performance, stalling, poor fuel economy, and the illumination of the check engine light. 3.

What causes the P0341 code on a 2015 GMC Sierra?

Common causes include a faulty camshaft position sensor, damaged wiring or connectors, timing chain or belt issues, a failing crankshaft position sensor, or incorrect engine timing. 4.

Can I drive my 2015 GMC Sierra with the P0341 code?

While the vehicle may still run, driving with this code can lead to reduced performance, potential engine stalling, and further damage if not addressed promptly. 5.

How do I fix the P0341 code on a 2015 GMC Sierra?

Repairs may involve replacing the camshaft position sensor, repairing damaged wiring or connectors, inspecting and adjusting engine timing, or replacing the timing chain or belt if necessary. 6.

How do I diagnose the P0341 code in a 2015 GMC Sierra?

Start by inspecting the camshaft position sensor and its wiring, checking for damage or loose connections. Use a scan tool to monitor sensor signals and compare them to engine timing to identify irregularities. 7.

Is the P0341 code related to the crankshaft position sensor?

Yes, the P0341 code can sometimes be linked to a failing crankshaft position sensor, as the engine control module relies on both sensors for proper timing synchronization. 8.

How much does it cost to repair the P0341 code on a 2015 GMC Sierra?

Repair costs can vary. Replacing the camshaft position sensor may cost $100–$300, while more extensive repairs like fixing timing chain issues could range from $500 to $1,500 or more. 9.
