I have a 2007 Hyundai Tucson SE and in the last 3 months have had P0171 codes, had the Oxygen Sensor Bank 1 changed and the Check Engine has come on 5 times. I brought it back to the shop because of the same code and the compute diagnostic code showed that the throttle body sensor was bad and the mass air flow sensor "O" ring replaced. Today, the PO171 code came back on and my Tucson is back in the shop.
I have 127,130 miles on it and have never had any other issues with my Tuscson. This is Driving me insane. Any suggestions?

The P0171 code just indicatea that the engine is running leaner (more air than fuel) than normal. Without doing any test, my only suggestion is to replace the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor. Based on a national database of repairs for the P0171 code, 80% of the times the problem was the MAF and 15% the Oxygen Sensor.

2004 Santa Fe 2.7 had no codes or performance issues. Replaced gas tank that was leaking due to rust. Now have PO171 and PO174 codes. Replaced Mass Air Sensor, and a sticky Idle Air valve. there are no discernible vacuum leaks anyplace. Any idea where to go from here?

Other than the components you have replaced, the only thing I found that could set the code is the fuel delivery. Either you have a problem with the fuel pump or you have clogged fuel injectors. You could start by running a fuel additive to clean the injectors and/or check the fuel pressure with the a fuel gauge.

This error came up on my wife's 2005 Tuscan (V6) after she accidentally put 91 octane premium gas in instead of 87 octane regular. She used up that tank and refiled with no issues (check engine light turned off) but the light went back on after the next time she filled up again.
My immediate thought is that it's a fuel mixture issue. I'm just curious what others think?
