P0141 Nissan Code - Rear Sensor Heater Circuit Malfunction Bank 1 Sensor 2

Quick Answer

Oxygen Sensors (O2S) or Heated Oxygen Sensors (HO2S) need to reach a minimum operating temperature of 750 degrees F to produce an accurate voltage signal. Common causes include Faulty Heated Oxygen Sensor (H2OS) Bank 1 Sensor 2, Heated Oxygen Sensor (H2OS) Bank 1 Sensor 2 circuit fuse, Heated Oxygen Sensor (H2OS) Bank 1 Sensor 2 circuit open shorted to ground. Severity is Moderate - service should be scheduled soon. The vehicle may still be drivable for short trips if it runs normally, but avoid hard driving and repair it soon.

Code P0141 Nissan Description

Oxygen Sensors (O2S) or Heated Oxygen Sensors (HO2S) need to reach a minimum operating temperature of 750 degrees F to produce an accurate voltage signal. The faster the heated oxygen sensor reaches that temperature the faster the sensor will start sending an accurate signal to the Engine Control Module (ECM).
In order to achieve the require temperature, a heater element is included inside the heated oxygen sensor. The ECM controls the heated oxygen sensor heater element based on signals from the engine coolant temperature and engine load. The ECM controls the heater element circuit by allowing current flow to ground.
The ECM monitors the voltage signal received through the heater element circuit and determines the state of the circuit by comparing the voltage detected with the factory specifications.

Discuss the causes and fixes for P0141 Nissan OBDII Code

  • Hi Auto help me I have a code for Nissan P0141

  • Replace Heated Oxygen Sensor (H2OS) Bank 1 Sensor 2 (Rear Sensor)

  • thanks

  • I have the same problem , is this on the Drivers side or Passenger side ?

  • What model and year is your Nissan?

  • 1996 Nissan Pathfinder 4wd, only 105,000 it has been changed twice in the last two years. I just bought the care a few days ago and had the auto store check the fault. I looked at the sensor today and the wiring looked good and secured. P0141 , the knock sensor was also changed out.

a second problem I have is.
I also have multiple miss fires, The spark plugs & wires were changed and fuel filter two years ago less than 3,000 miles, I changed out the cap and rotor today - still miss fires. kind of stumped.
    Thank you

  • Clogged fuel injectors is a very common problem for the Pathfinder, and that could damage the O2 sensors. I suggest start by replacing the spark plugs, air filter, add a fuel additive and use high octane gas for a couple of weeks. If problem persist you may have to replace the fuel injectors.

  • Hi Auto please help, i have a P0141 H02S2 HIR(B1) & P1550 BAT CURRENT SENSOR in my nissan Tiida 2008

  • I have a 2015 Nissan Murano and I have three generic codes listed: p0037, p0141, and p0138. It references the O2 sensors. Which ones should I replace? downstream rear, downstream front, or upstream rear?

  • All three codes, P0037, P0141 and P0138, are for the Bank 1 (Bank 1 on your vehicle is back side, next to the firewall) - Sensor 2 (also known as Downstream or Rear).
