Older models had O2 Sensor (Oxygen Sensor), newer models have Heated O2 Sensor. Since O2 sensors work better when warm up, on newer models a heated element was integrated on the O2 sensor to accelerate the warm up time.
-
Very helpful. A view of the engine location and replacement difficulty would be ideal.
-
I have the same problem guys, and I have a 2008 Honda Element AWD. OBDIITtech, if you can tell me where this sensor is and how to replace it, I would be eternally greatful as well.

PO 135 O2 Sensor Heater Circuit Malfunction(bank1 sensor1) The guy putting in the part for me wants to know which one he is replacing. He says it looks like it's on top of my engine. Well, it's not underneath. Is this the correct one to change? How do we know? Honda Civic 1998
-
Could someone please help me with an 05 civic that keeps throwing the same P0135 code 100 or so kms after I get it reset and the o2 has been changed and is good!!!
-
Next step is to check the fuse and O2 sensor relay. The fuse is in the fuse box and the relay is behind the glove box.
-
Hi, thanks I appreciate the reply.
AF sensor fuse in fuse box is good and the O2 sensor was replaced last week. The guy was able to reset the engine light.
It stayed off for approximately 130 kms.
I filled up the tank and approximately 20 kms later the problem came back. The gas cap is tight.Thank you
Blair. -
The gas cap has nothing to do with this code. You could try replacing the relay shown on the picture above. If the problem persist, you have to test the circuit, check if the power from the relay at the O2 sensor.

I have a 2003 civic p0135 it come up with 02 sensor heater circuit bank 1 sensor 1 where is that if anyone could help me please

I have a 4 cylinder 2007 Honda Accord with 114000 with this code p0135. Mechanic quoted a price to replace then called me back with a higher price saying I need a Air/Fuel Sensor and not a O2 sensor. Said something about an upgrade to the part by Honda. Whats the difference between a A/F sor and an oxygen sensor ? I need to get it fixed because I cant pass the state inspection with the MIL light on. They wont even look at it. I'm unemployed and don't have a lot of money to keep buying parts for repairs. Whats the correct part ? Is this something I can do myself ? Where is it located ? I have noticed a significant drop in milage. Please help
-
Most newer cars (approximate from 2005 and up) use Air/Fuel Ratio sensor instead of front Oxygen Sensors. Honda didn't just upgrade the part, your Honda came with the Air/Fuel Ratio sensor. Your mechanic simple just mistakenly say Oxygen sensor and assume the price of the of the sensor, but the Air/Fuel Ratio sensor are more expensive.
You can read more about the sensors here: http://www.autocodes.com/ar...
Replacing the sensor is not that difficult, if you have the tools, it should take 10-15 min.
-
What model and year is your Honda? The A/F Sensor is the Front Sensor (upstream).
Yes, the sensor before the cat. -
Hi, we have a honda accord 2009 model.mu computer is showing the fault code 41-5 HO2S (A/F SENSOR) S1 HEATER CIRCUIT MALFUNCTION. where is this location.

My Honda Accord 2001 EX 4-Cylinder also has the P0135 error code. I was informed by two different Advanced Auto Parts reps that the upstream O2 Sensor is having a problem. They say it's located in the front since 4-Cylinder engine has only two sensors. They also gave me the part # 234-4620. If I am not mistaken the O2 sensor is connected to the exhaust manifold, correct? Is it the yellow cord shown in the attached image provided by OBDIITech in response to Jellbean84957's question? Thank you.

Hi, i'm getting this same code P0135 on a Civic 2009 and was planning on replacing the Sensor, however I was reading all the comments here and it says there should be a fuse and relay for that sensor. Does anybody know the location of that fuse? Also, is the sensor from Bank 1, Sensor 1, the one you see on the top of the exhaust manifold?
Thank you!
-
For your model year Honda, the power is provided by the PGM-FI relay. In other words if you don't have any other codes, then more than likely the problem is the sensor it self and not the fuse.
-
Thank you for the information, just one more question, do you know if that sensor is the one on the top? Similar to the one on this picture you posted on another comment
-
Hi, I just wanted to thank you, you were really helpful as I have already replaced the sensor and the CEL disappeared and the performance of the car returned back to normal.
-
hello, i have the same problem. Relay is good, but ecu does not ground the relay - and because of it, there is no power on O2 sensor from relay. How can i solve the problem?

Where are the two sensors on the Honda Accord 2003-07 4 cylinder?
-
The Front Oxygen Sensor (A/F Sensor) is a the beginning of the exhaust pine and the Rear Oxygen Sensor is on the catalytic converter.

My 2008 Honda Civic Hybrid received a code of P0135. What does it affect if I don't have it replaced?
-
The P0135 code means Air/Fuel Ratio (A/F) Sensor (Sensor 1) Heater is not working properly. A faulty sensor will affect the fuel miles per gallon and will cause your vehicle to fail the smog test.
-
I have a 2005 Honda Civic, I have this code but i just wanna make sure to buy the right sensor. Theres an upstream and downstream is it upstream? The code says sensor 1 bank 1 so that means its the upstream sensor thats bad right? If theres any images that would be really appreciated, Thanks!
-
Yes.
Upstream Sensor = Front Sensor = Sensor 1I need to know engine size of your Civic for the images.
-
The Front (Upstream) Oxygen Sensor (Also know as Air/Fuel Ratio (A/F) Sensor) is in front of the engine.
Here is the only image I got:

Hi, My Honda CRV 2005 is throwing the P0135 code. I replaced the upstream O2 sensor with an aftermarket part (the sensor was installed before the catalytic converter). Threw the same code. I got a replacement sensor from the same company thinking the one I received is faulty. Replaced and still same code! Is it okay to use anti-seize grease on the sensor thread as that is what I did? Are Honda's fussy with aftermarket parts? Should I invest in an OEM O2 sensor? Any advice? Thank you!
-
How long it takes for the code to comeback? are there any exhaust leaks? do you know the O2 sensor brand? I doubt an OEM sensor will fix the problem, it's probably something else.
-
I cleared the code by disconnecting the battery for 20 minutes. When I turned on the key, the code was off. However upon starting the car, the code immediately turned on! The part is not labeled with a brand. However the part number is REPH960920:

Any advice would be much appreciated! I am so reluctant to bring it to the shop as my guess is it will be quite expensive! -
Since the code is set immediately, then the problem is more than likely a wire or power problem. You need to check the sensor fuse and relay. The fuse is the #6 on the fuse box and the relay is the in the Auxiliary Fuse Box. I hope that helps.

My vehicle 2016 Jazz V CVT was flood affected and post repair, showed P0135. Replaced AF sensor 1 from another vehicle and the warning light still glows after 2-3 drive cycles. Please help me. I can't locate the AF fuse or relays.
-
Can't resolve this problem of Honda Civic hybrid 2010
Already change af sensor but not
Code immediately appear. -
Unfortunately, other than the Air/Fuel Sensor, I have not seen any other component setting the P0135 code. My only recommendation is to double check the installation, make sure the sensor connector is firmly connected.
-
Hello, I have a 2008 Honda Civic with the p0135 code. I already had it replaced and still gives me the same code. What relay or fuse do I have to check? Or is there any other thing that I have to check? How can I know if the sensor I got is bad or not an original part?
-
There is a factory service bulletin for this problem.
Under-hood temperature causes grease from an under-hood fuse box connector to melt, travel down through the engine wire harness, and drip onto the A/F sensor 4P connector.
CORRECTIVE ACTION
Replace the A/F sensor, and install a subharness kit. -
HI, i have 2.4lit, 4cyl, 2006 honda accord with 593,000 km run, saw engine light "ON", upon checking found error code: P0135, HO2S (A/F sensor) S1 heater circuit malfunction)
shown as Permanent DTC and Temporary DTC.
what do you suggest . . . . . -
If you have the P0135, then you must replace the Heated Oxygen Sensor (H2OS) Bank 1 Sensor 1 to fix the problem.

I have replaced the upstream and downstream O2 sensors and still have a P0135 01 / 01 I've checked the fuse it was a 10 amp and appeared perfect. I have high gas usage and a check engine light I just did a OBD2 scan and got the P0135 01 / 01 the air filter Clean vacuum lines appear to be intact I am about to check the wiring connection again but I am wondering is it possible when buying over-the-counter say Advance Auto Parts O2 sensors that they might be bad?
-
is it possible when buying over-the-counter say Advance Auto Parts O2 sensors that they might be bad?
It's possible. Let me check if there is more information about your problem, what model and year is your Honda?
-
2005 Honda Accord lx 4 cylinder, replace both sensors and still getting check engine light, code p0135 ho2s heater circuit malfunction, o2 heater circuit bank1 sensor1,
Please help -
The P0135 code means that there is a problem with the sensor circuit or the sensor itself. Most of the time the problem is the sensor. Your next step is to check the #4 fuse and the Air Fuel Ratio Sensor (also known as O2 Sensor or A/F Sensor) Relay.
