Code P0016 Cadillac Description

The Camshaft Position (CMP) actuator system is controlled by the control module. The Engine Control Module (ECM) sends a pulse width modulated signal to a CMP actuator solenoid in order to control the amount of engine oil flow to a camshaft actuator passage. There are 2 different passages for oil to flow through, a passage for CAM advance and a passage for CAM retard. The camshaft actuator is attached to the front of the camshaft and is hydraulically operated in order to change the angle of the camshaft relative to the Crankshaft Position (CKP). Engine Oil Pressure (EOP), viscosity, temperature, engine oil level, and aftermarket engine oil additives can have an adverse effect on camshaft phaser performance. The Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) will be set when the ECM compares the signals of the crankshaft position sensor and both camshaft position sensors to detect if the signals are out of sync.

I replaced cam sensor bank 1 sensor a and no change, checked resistance of both cam vvrt actuators and both at 7.2 ohm which is same as new. Replaced bank 1 vvt actuator a and so far seems to be fixed

Light back on 20 miles. Needs timing chain at 78k and not on the extended warranty

For your 2010 Cadillac SRX, the P0016 code is for the "Crankshaft Position Sensor - Intake Camshaft Position Not Plausible Bank 1".

Put in sensor in that position(#8 on link below) but still getting reading for p0016 and p0017. So probably other sensor won't make a difference.

If you have both codes and the sensor didn't fix the problem, then you may have a problem with the timing chain or timing chain tensioner. Unfortunately, the timing chain and tensioner can prematurely fail on this vehicles.
