B2921 Code - Auxiliary Blend Door Feedback Circuit Open/Shorted

Quick Answer

Under normal operation, to rotate the auxiliary temperature blend door actuator clockwise, the Smart Junction Box (SJB) supplies voltage to the auxiliary temperature blend door actuator motors through the circuit and supplies ground through the circuit. Common causes include Faulty Auxiliary Temperature Blend Door Actuator, Auxiliary Temperature Blend Door Actuator harness is open or shorted, Auxiliary Temperature Blend Door Actuator circuit poor electrical connection. Severity is High - diagnose this code as soon as possible. Driving is not recommended if the warning light is flashing, the engine runs poorly, or safety-related symptoms are present.

Code B2921 Description

Under normal operation, to rotate the auxiliary temperature blend door actuator clockwise, the Smart Junction Box (SJB) supplies voltage to the auxiliary temperature blend door actuator motors through the circuit and supplies ground through the circuit. To rotate the auxiliary temperature blend door actuator counterclockwise, the SJB reverses the voltage and ground circuits.
The auxiliary temperature blend door actuator feedback resistor is supplied a ground from the SJB through the circuit and a 5-volt reference voltage on a circuit. The SJB reads the voltage on the auxiliary temperature blend door actuator feedback circuit to determine the auxiliary temperature blend door actuator position by the position of the actuator feedback resistor wiper arm.

Frequently Asked Questions about B2921 Code

1. What does the OBDII code B2921 mean?

B2921 indicates an issue in the Auxiliary Blend Door Feedback Circuit, which is either open or shorted, affecting the HVAC system's ability to regulate airflow or temperature properly.

2. What are the common symptoms of code B2921?

Symptoms may include inconsistent cabin temperature control, inability to adjust airflow direction, unusual noises from the HVAC system, or a malfunctioning rear climate zone.

3. What causes the B2921 code to appear?

The code can be triggered by a faulty auxiliary blend door actuator, damaged wiring or connectors, a shorted or open feedback circuit, or a malfunctioning HVAC control module.

4. Can I still drive my car with a B2921 code?

Yes, you can drive with this code, but the HVAC system's performance may be compromised, leading to discomfort due to improper temperature regulation or airflow issues.

5. How do I diagnose the B2921 code?

Start by inspecting the blend door actuator, wiring, and connectors for damage. Use a multimeter to test the circuit for continuity or shorts, and check the HVAC control module for faults.

6. How do I fix the B2921 code?

Repairs may include replacing a faulty blend door actuator, repairing or replacing damaged wiring or connectors, or, in rare cases, reprogramming or replacing the HVAC control module.

7. How much does it cost to repair the B2921 code?

The cost depends on the issue but typically ranges from $150 to $400, including parts and labor, with actuator replacement being the most common repair.

8. Can a blown fuse cause the B2921 code?

While uncommon, a blown fuse in the HVAC system could lead to circuit interruptions and contribute to the B2921 code.

9. Is the B2921 code specific to certain vehicles?

This code is generally found in vehicles equipped with an auxiliary HVAC system, such as SUVs or vans with rear climate zones.

10. Can a software update fix the B2921 code?

In some cases, a software update for the HVAC control module may resolve the issue if it's related to a programming glitch. However, physical repairs are more often required.
