Code C0765 2015 GMC Sierra Description

The Tire Pressure Monitor System (TPMS) has a Radio Frequency (RF) transmitting pressure sensor in each wheel/tire assembly. As vehicle speed increases, centrifugal force puts the sensor into Drive mode. The sensors send the tire pressure data to the Remote Control Door Lock Receiver (RCDLR) which in turn translates the received sensor data into sensor presence, sensor mode, and tire pressure before passing it onto the Body Control Module (BCM). Once vehicle speed is greater than 40 km/h (25 MPH), the BCM waits for the first sensor to go into Drive mode, then checks if all sensors have gone into Drive mode. If one or more sensors do not go into these modes or do not transmit at all, the BCM will set DTC C0750, C0755, C0760, or C0765 respectively.

Frequently Asked Questions about C0765 2015 GMC Sierra Code

1. What does the OBDII code C0765 mean on a 2015 GMC Sierra?

C0765 indicates an issue with the right rear tire pressure sensor, specifically that it is reporting low or no pressure.

2. What are the common symptoms of code C0765?

Symptoms include a tire pressure warning light on the dashboard, inaccurate tire pressure readings, or no reading from the right rear tire.

3. What causes the C0765 code to appear?

Common causes include a faulty tire pressure sensor, low tire pressure, damaged wiring, or interference with the sensor's signal.

4. How do I fix the C0765 code on my 2015 GMC Sierra?

First, check and inflate the right rear tire to the recommended pressure. If the issue persists, inspect or replace the tire pressure sensor and check the wiring for damage.

5. Can I drive my 2015 GMC Sierra with the C0765 code?

Yes, but it’s important to manually check the tire pressure to avoid driving with an underinflated tire, which can cause safety issues or damage to the tire.

6. How do I reset the tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) after fixing C0765?

Use the vehicle's TPMS reset procedure, typically found in the owner’s manual, which may involve using a TPMS tool or following a specific sequence of actions with the ignition and tire pressures.

7. How much does it cost to replace a tire pressure sensor on a 2015 GMC Sierra?

The cost to replace a tire pressure sensor typically ranges from $50 to $150 per sensor, including parts and labor.

8. Can a dead battery in the tire pressure sensor cause the C0765 code?

Yes, a dead or weak sensor battery can cause the TPMS to malfunction and trigger the C0765 code.

9. How do I know if the right rear tire pressure sensor is faulty?

If the right rear tire pressure does not display or consistently shows an error despite proper inflation, the sensor may be faulty and require replacement.

10. Can weather conditions affect the appearance of the C0765 code?

Yes, extreme cold weather can cause tire pressure to drop, potentially triggering the code. Inflate the tire to the correct pressure and see if the issue resolves.
