Code C0755 Chevrolet Description

The Tire Pressure Monitor System (TPMS) has a Radio Frequency (RF) transmitting pressure sensor in each wheel/tire assembly. As vehicle speed increases, centrifugal force puts the sensor into Drive mode. The sensors send the tire pressure data to the Remote Control Door Lock Receiver (RCDLR) which in turn translates the received sensor data into sensor presence, sensor mode, and tire pressure before passing it onto the Body Control Module (BCM). Once vehicle speed is greater than 40 km/h (25 MPH), the BCM waits for the first sensor to go into Drive mode, then checks if all sensors have gone into Drive mode. If one or more sensors do not go into these modes or do not transmit at all, the BCM will set DTC C0750, C0755, C0760, or C0765 respectively.

Frequently Asked Questions about C0755 Chevrolet Code

1. What does the OBDII code C0755 mean on a Chevrolet?

C0755 indicates an issue with the Right Front Low Tire Pressure Sensor, typically due to a malfunction or inability to communicate properly with the vehicle's Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS).

2. What are the common symptoms of code C0755 in a Chevrolet?

Common symptoms include a TPMS warning light on the dashboard, inaccurate tire pressure readings, or no reading from the right front tire.

3. What causes the C0755 code to appear on a Chevrolet?

Possible causes include a faulty tire pressure sensor, a dead sensor battery, damage to the sensor, interference from nearby electronics, or issues with the TPMS module.

4. Can a low tire pressure trigger the C0755 code?

No, the C0755 code is specifically related to a sensor malfunction. However, low tire pressure may trigger a separate warning light without a specific OBDII code.

5. How do I fix the C0755 code on my Chevrolet?

Inspect and, if necessary, replace the right front tire pressure sensor. Ensure the sensor is properly programmed and compatible with your vehicle’s TPMS system.

6. How can I tell if the right front sensor is faulty?

Scan the TPMS system with a diagnostic tool to check for sensor communication and activity. A non-responsive or low battery reading indicates a faulty sensor.

7. Can I drive my Chevrolet with the C0755 code?

Yes, but it's not recommended as the vehicle may not monitor tire pressure correctly, increasing the risk of driving with underinflated or overinflated tires.

8. How much does it cost to replace a tire pressure sensor in a Chevrolet?

The cost varies but typically ranges from $50 to $150 per sensor, plus labor fees if replaced by a professional.

9. Do I need to reprogram my TPMS after replacing the sensor?

Yes, the new sensor needs to be paired with the vehicle’s TPMS module using a TPMS programming tool to function correctly.

10. Can extreme weather cause the C0755 code to appear?

Extreme temperatures can affect sensor performance or battery life, but consistent issues usually indicate a malfunctioning sensor rather than weather-related interference.
