Code C0252 Description

The Yaw Rate, Lateral Acceleration, and Longitudinal Acceleration Sensors are combined into one Multi-axis Acceleration Sensor. The Multi-axis Acceleration Sensor is located internal to the Airbag Sensing and Diagnostic Module. The Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM) controls the stability control by monitoring the inputs of the Multi-axis Acceleration Sensor and the Steering Wheel Angle Sensor. The readings are compared to an internal calibrated value, so it knows if the vehicle is having an instability condition to activate the stability control. The Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) will be set when the vehicle is driven in a straight line the Multi-axis Acceleration Sensor, the Steering Wheel Angle Sensor, and the vehicle speed correlation is not recognized after a distance of 2.5 km (1.5 mi).

Frequently Asked Questions about C0252 Code

1. What does OBDII code C0252 mean?

C0252 indicates a malfunction in the correlation of sensors within the Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) module, which may affect the system's ability to maintain stability.

2. What are common symptoms of the C0252 code?

Common symptoms include the ABS or traction control warning light turning on, reduced stability control function, and occasional loss of braking or traction assistance.

3. What causes the C0252 code to be triggered?

The code can be caused by faulty wheel speed sensors, a malfunctioning VSC module, damaged wiring or connectors, or miscalibrated stability control sensors.

4. Can I drive with the C0252 code active?

While the vehicle may still be drivable, stability and traction control functions may be compromised, increasing the risk of losing control in certain driving conditions.

5. How do I diagnose the C0252 code?

Diagnosis involves scanning for additional codes, inspecting wheel speed sensors and wiring, checking the VSC module, and performing sensor calibration tests using a diagnostic tool.

6. Can a dirty or damaged wheel speed sensor cause the C0252 code?

Yes, a dirty or damaged wheel speed sensor can provide incorrect data to the VSC module, leading to this code.

7. How is the C0252 code commonly fixed?

Repairs may include cleaning or replacing wheel speed sensors, repairing damaged wiring, recalibrating the sensors, or replacing a faulty VSC module.

8. Do I need special tools to fix the C0252 code?

Yes, a professional-grade OBDII scanner with ABS and stability control diagnostics is often required, along with tools to inspect and replace sensors or wiring.

9. How much does it cost to fix the C0252 code?

Repair costs can range from $100 to $500 or more, depending on whether it's a simple sensor replacement or a more complex VSC module repair.

10. Can resetting the code fix the C0252 issue?

Resetting the code may clear the warning temporarily, but the underlying issue must be diagnosed and repaired to prevent the code from returning.
