Power Tail Gate (hereinafter PTG) is the system that moves tailgate of vehicle by an electronic motor so that the user can open or close the door with less force than required on manual operation. PTG consists of the drive unit, handle, switch, warning buzzer, anti-pinch (right/left) and cinch/latch(2 switches each). Drive unit is located at the left D pillar (quarter panel). It is a cored part of PTG that drives leg which is connected with pushrod by force of the motor to move tailgate. Besides that Drive unit consists of PTG ECU, motor, pushrod, channel, clutch, and two optical sensors When the power gate open signal is received, PTG ECU drives motor of drive unit by operating clutch and pinion gear transmits drive force of motor into an up-and-down motion of the leg. according to the motion of the leg, pushrod moves vertically to move the gate. The optical sensor monitors this system operation and delivers it to PTG ECU.
