Code B1D8E Description

The tilt, telescoping and electronic telescoping column has been designed to be serviced as an assembly; less wiring, switches, shrouds, steering wheel, etc. Most steering column components can be serviced without removing the steering column from the vehicle. The Memory Seat Module (MSM) input signal from the Steering Column Telescope Sensor is recognized in a specified voltage area. The input channel is an analog to digital converter input and the sensor is a hall sensor. The hall supply voltage is switched on when the motor becomes activated. The Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) is set if the sensed input is recognized in a defined voltage area (between 3.7 and 5.0 volts at the controller input, not at the module input) for more than 14 mS.
