Possible causes

  • Blown Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) Fuse
  • ABS module harness is open or shorted
  • ABS module connector poor electrical connection.
  • Faulty charging system
  • Faulty ABS module

Tech notes

The B1676 code is set when the Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) module detects system voltage is less than 9 volts or grater than 19 volts for more than 8 seconds. In other words if the battery voltage is too low or the alternator is not charging properly the B1676 code will set.

  • Engine Light ON (or Service Engine Soon Warning Light)

Fused battery voltage and fused ignition voltage is supplied to the Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) module from battery junction box fuses. Blown fuse or open circuit could trigger the B1676 code.
