The Assist Step Control (ASC) Module monitors a signal circuit to the assist step disable switch. When the switch is pressed, a ground path is provided to the signal circuit. Pressing the switch with the doors closed while in Park or Neutral will extend the boards for washing. Pressing and holding the switch for 4 s will disable/enable running boards by putting them in Locked mode. The Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) will be set when the signal circuit is shorted to ground for longer than 1 min.
