Code B0283:02 Description

When the rear heated rear window switch is pressed and the engine is running, the rear window defogger grid will activate and will turn off automatically depending upon the vehicle's speed. The Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) Control Module monitors the voltage level on the supply voltage circuit of the rear window defogger. The HVAC tests the supply voltage circuit of the rear window defogger every 160 milliseconds. With the rear window defogger inactive, the supply voltage circuit of the rear window defogger will have no voltage present. With the rear window defogger active, the supply voltage circuit of the rear window defogger will be near the system voltage. The Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) will be set when the Electric Rear Defrost Control Circuit is short to ground.
