AFter adding coolant will the engine light turn off once it has been triggered?

car began tooverheat. Added coolant. Temp gauge reads normal, running fine, but engine light is still lit. Will it turn off on its own or do I need to have it checked. Daignostic code P1299 says senor detected overheating.

P1299 Cylinder head temperature sensor over heat detected
If you had to add , there has to be a leak, overheating condition does more damage to engine than anything else. Have it checked for the cause.
