Hi I have a 2001 Honda accord that has had the check engine light come on 5 times in the past 5 months. First it was a temeperature gauge (had that replaced), next it was an O2 sensor (had that replaced) now I'm getting a P0420 code and the mechanic recommended I replace the cat converter. I said I was going to wait 2 weeks until I took it in for a full maintenance check and he said I'd be fine. He cleared the code, but this morning the check engine light is back on. Should I be concerned, or can I wait a week still?

Hi there,

It seems you will need to replace the converter, but you will be fine to drive it with the light on. It's not going to damage anything else in the car. Unless the converter is plugged up it will not leave you stranded or cause you any issues.
