Possible causes

  • Large Vacuum Leak
  • Fault MAP Sensor

  • MAP Sensor circuit poor electrical connection

When is the code detected?

Based on calculated MAP, either both of the TP sensors have failed or the engine has a large vacuum leak.

Possible symptoms

  • Engine Light ON (or Service Engine Soon Warning Light)

P2173 Dodge Description

The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) detects that a large vacuum leak is present or that the signal voltage for both Throttle Position (TP) Sensors is stuck a 2.5 volts and calculated MAP is less than the Gas Flow Adaptation value. One trip fault will set within 5 seconds.
