Nissan Sentra 2005 1.8L check engine light on, have trouble code P1217 Engine Overtemp. I change thermostat and add coolant, reset check engine light after all I start the engine in 5min. to 10min. and plus the A/C on, the check engine is on again, temperature gauge are going up and the coolant are going out from reservoir.What other sources of damage other than to thermostat?

Vehicle: 2005, Nissan ,Sentra 1.8L

Head gasket is a very common problem, does the car have a hard time starting? pull the spark plugs out and check them out (look for rust)

might be a clogged radiator core... just changed mine today with the same code plus p0327 and p0217 codes..... seems to have worked.... if you arent getting heat out of your vents, then your core is most likely plugged.  Could also be the water pump ( not that bad to replace on these cars, just make sure you brace the engine with a jack before removing the motor mount on the passanger side.
