I hit a huge pot hole and minutes later my check engine light was on, and the next day the console said tighten gas cap, I did that and the message was gone, but the check engine light remained.. I took the car to get the problem code and it read P0174. Could my problem be related to the gas cap?

Hi there,

This is not a code that would have anything to do with the gas cap. This code is related to the engine running a lean fuel mixture. This is caused by several things but since you hit a large pot hole it might be related to one of the O2 sensors, the mass air flow sensor or possibly some sort of vacuum leak.
