1997 ford taurus lx 3.0 dohc. I failed smog with too high hc. And didn't have any codes in the readings, but someone told me my high hc is caused from too high O2. He said to replace Maf sensor, coolant temp sensor, and air temp sensor. I replaced these, then (now) my check engine light comes on and I now have codes of P0174 and P01711. I'm thinking after reading lots online, that perhaps its a vacuum leak. But should I just replace both heated O2 sensors to be sure?

I have replace new spark plugs, new spark plug wires, new coil, new pcv valve, new air filter, coolant temp sensor, air temp sensor, maf sensor, had a fresh oil change, the car runs and drives beautifully, no smoke comes out of the exhaust. But now has the codes of P0171 and P0174.

Hi there,

I would check the fuel pressure. Odds of both O2 sensors causing issues at the same time are pretty slim. Same with your possible vacuum leak. Since the issue is on both banks you need to thing maf sensor or low fuel pressure. Even though it's a new maf, if it's aftermarket it could be causing the issue with the codes.
