I have a 04 hyundia elantra 85000 on it I bought it 5 months ago drove it 6000 miles and it started losing power , it started slow but didn't see the check engine light. It got worse I took it to a local store they did a diagnostics test and it came up with a misfire ,malfunction indicator lamp, ho2s sensor and O2 sensor ( upstream & downstream). I checks for vaccine leaks and considered if it was the evap shut off valve. Now the car stays on for 5 seconds. My question is when I change the sensors should I Change the cat converter as well?? Or what other solutions are there??

Vehicle: 2004 hyundia Elantra 2.0 l

Hi there,

I would remove the catalytic converter that is up directly off the exhaust manifold and look at the converter. Normally the O2 sensors won't cause this type of running condition, but a plugged up converter will cause O2 sensor codes. It's quite possible the converter is blocked and needs to be replaced, not the O2 sensors.
