After riding car 50 mph the temperature guage went all the way up. The service engine light went on. The car was not overheating. After, driving 25 -30 miles the temperature guage went back to normal. What you think the problem is.

You will have to check and make sure there are no coolant leaks, if the fans are coming on, if everything seems to be fine, you can replace the thermostat and coolant temp sensor

Possible causes
- Faulty cooling fan
- Faulty Thermostat
- Faulty engine temperature sensor
- Cooling fan harness is open or shorted
- Cooling fan poor electrical connection
- Engine temperature sensor harness is open or shorted
- Engine temperature sensor poor electrical connection
- Improper ignition timing
- Blocked radiator
